Busy, busy, busy............

Well, as you can probably tell from the lack of posts we've been a tad busy here at Primrose Hill. What with those cute little chicks to drool over daily, we've not been handling them much, but there has been the odd little cuddle! It's been a tad busy with the business and the garden has been keeping us both out of mischief in all of our spare minutes!
Do you remember this post? Well here's where we are with this little project, looking a lot smarter, wouldn't you agree? Still a bit of fencing to be done and the wild flower seeds to be sown, but I am rather loving my new gate!
Lots going on in the garden and the greenhouse, these arrived in the garden this weekend....

........what do you think? they'll make great sweetpea and cornflower supports. They were hay stooks in a previous life, nothing better than a bit of recycling in the garden.

In my last post I showed you some of our pruchases at the market, well one of the buckets is planted up at the front door with marguerites, very welcoming with all those friendly little daisy heads bobbing around! And yes, that is a little pot of violas hiding beside it from way back in March when I potted them up for the Country Living Fair, still flowering away, healthy as ever!

Well, I'm off to the post office with another order and I really must catch up on all those e-mails that I owe you all, especially this lady, your parcel will be in the post this week, I promise!

I was beginning to worry where you were! Only joking, I know what it's like when you get busy. Glad to know all is well though. The chicks are still looking very cute and I love all the bits for your garden, especially those smiley marguerite faces.

Hey girlies, nice to be back too. You know what it's like, making the most of daylight hours so out in the garden until late at night, plus trying to get my head down during the day! Will e-mail you both to get all your news.

Your garden is looking wonderful! It's good to be able to get out and spend hours in the garden getting things done.

You have been busy! It all looks wonderful - I'm envious of your lovely little cottage, it is perfect! How many hens/ducks/geese do you have now?

I just can't get enough of those sweet little chicks! We will be getting chickens in a few years time after we move to a larger house (too many coyotes in this neighborhood we live in now). I love your new sweet pea supports! I've linked to you on my blog! =)

Good to see you back! Busy, may is the time of year when it goes grazy - I love your fleurs! I took a day at the allotment (little one at playschool) and was greeted by brambles and nettles - very sore arms! oh but I feel great for doing it.

Loving getting out into the garden, we finished clearing the bed under the dining room window tonight, it was full of stones and a lonely hosta! So we dug up the hosta and gave it to our neighbour, she was very grateful!

I've got delphiniums, foxgloves, lupins and hydrangeas to put in at the back but need to find lots more to fill it up!

Tash, we've got 18 chickens, 9 chicks, 2 geese and just 2 ducks at the moment, our little drake got taken a couple of weeks ago :o(
The duck eggs didn't hatch either which was a bit of a shame, we'll just have to try again once we get ourselves another drake.

Right, off to bed having done another garden work out - who needs to go to the gym!!

Love the hay stook, the gate, the maguerites, and of course the chicks. With all that gardening I wonder you get time to run your business as well, I think you must be wonder woman in disguise.

We've go some new chicks too, little quail chicks, so tiny. We've just taken them out of the incubator this evening. The weather has been fantastic here today. How's it with you?

With all the gardening and sewing when do you have time to do anything else? What do you do of a weekend up there to chill out?
The chicks are lovely, although I have to say I'm happy just with my little cat.
Things here have been busy also, what with my hen night at the weekend and my wedding just around the corner. When I have two minutes its nice to read your posts, and hear how others live.

Carolyn, the hay stooks are fab aren't they? I've got 5, 3 smaller ones and 2 big, I'm still trying to decide where to put them. I'd like to grow 3 different clematis up one, I have an idea that we could have it flowering all summer if I pick the right varieties, we'll see how that works!

Working from home makes it easy running the business, and once we get the workshop/shop built this summer(fingers crossed!) I'll actually have a "place of work" to go to, which I'm really looking forward to. I have to admit though, I have turned into a bit of a hermit, loving my days at home pottering on. Since Gregg started working normal hours it's been a lot easier too, less distractions during the week when he used to be off! Plus the major factor that we don't have any kids to run around after!

We do manage to get to the pub most weekends and we are very lucky that we have VERY sociable neighbours!

Julia, your little quail chicks sounds adorable, you'll have to post a picture to let us all see. The weather has been reasonably good up here, the weekend was a bit showery but luckily neither of us are fairweather gardeners!

Poppy, sounds like you've been busy, when is your wedding, it must be soon? Are the invitations out yet?

Yes, invitations are out. Lots of replies as well. So far everyone is coming. I'm so looking forward to the big day (07/07/07), everyone we love all under one roof celebrating with us. I'm sure we are going to have some great memories.
Have you any special ocassions to attend this year?
Really enjoyed your post this morning, looking forward to future ones. Especially looking forward to seeing what is done with your stooks!

Hi Poppy,

Gosh, that's not long at all! It's funny, I was just saying to my friend the other day, I bet there are loads of weddings this year on 07/07/07 as it's a Saturday - what a coincidence!

For the first year ever, no weddings to go to this summer - well as far as I know!! Just lots of friends having babies this summer, the first had hers this morning - mostly all baby no. 2's as well, we've got a bit of catching up to do! All christenings instead now!

There are so many things I should be doing this morning and so far have spent the majority of my time on my laptop. It is so nice to catch up with people and hear what they are up to.
We too have had a baby born this year, the first of my very close friends to have a baby, he is so gorgeous, I love getting a cuddle!! One of my university friends informed me she is pregnant last week, its all go. Can't wait til it is our turn, it will be so exciting. Although as you said before, having kids does allow you to get more done as you don't spend your days chasing them!!

Maybe hear from you again soon

Hi Lisa
I know what you mean about busy. Though you seem to get far more in to your time than I am at the moment.
Your garden is certainly moving on. Love that gate and the hay stooks are fabulous. What a great frame for climbing your clematis.
Those chicks are so cute too.
I'll be back again soon. I know I've not stopped by for a while...I'm starting to learn that after 5 days of 9-5, and being Mum and home keeper in the evenings...it isn't leaving much time for anything else...let alone blogging. I have a forced day off work today (Hoorah!) so I'm catching up on visiting my favourite blogs.

Love your daisies! They look so lush - do you fertilise them with your own chicken manure?

These hay stooks are great - they'll look beautiful with sweet peas growing up them. Your garden looks wonderful too.

You really must be very busy, have missed you not posting so often.
This is my first day off in a while also as I worked over the weekend. Off this weekend coming so planning a girly one, as my future husband is off on his stag weekend. I really do wonder what they will get up to?

Hope post again soon

I think we are all in the same boat during the summer months - so much to do and so little time to do it. I love the idea of re-using the old hay stooks in the garden, it's important to retain these bits of rural history - rural history museums are one of my favourite places to visit, so full of interesting things and a reminder of a way of life that is virtually gone now.
