A rainy day

At last we've got a rainy day, drizzly and dreich.

So much time has been spent in the garden lately, yet there is still so much to be done, but we're getting there, slowly but surely. It's nice when people comment on how much we've changed the place, I met more friends of neighbours at the weekend and the first thing they commented on was how much we had improved our little corner and tidied it up, all the hard work is at last starting to pay off.

We at last relaxed for a bit on Sunday afternoon, a walk in the bluebell woods and then a pub tea in the Taybank in Dunkeld, my favourite (reasonably local) pub. Friends visited yesterday so the house got a quick tidy and much coffee, tea, scones and cake were eaten!

Here's a picture of my favourite tool at the moment, my riddle, I've been using it loads lately, great for getting nicely toned arms!

Sewing today, and then a visit up to Glenshee Pottery to collect some more stock this afternoon. If the rain stays on we'll hopefully get a bit more work done on the website, which desperately needs updating, when will there ever be enough hours in the day?!!

I know what you mean - it has been manic here, too. I have so much to do around the house, I'm hopefully going to open the VP shop-proper this week to sell some prints and I'm 1/3 of the way through a Very Long Post about supermarkets...

Have a great week!

So glad to see you have posted again.
It is very dull here also, keeps raining on and off. Have had so many things to do today in town and surrounding areas that thankfully the rain hasn't spoiled my day too much.
Sounds like you and hubby will have a lot going on this week with updating the web site, looking forward to seeing the end product. You will both just have to chill out at the weekend.
As I said before I'm having a girly weekend and I'm heading shopping at the to treat myself for my honeymoon, then some lunch/vino and then meeting up with mates at night also. The perfect girly weekend I feel!!
Will drop by again soon

It's great when you can see results in the garden after all that hard work. Pleased to hear you were able to take time off for a visit to the pub!

Your garden looks so lovely and you make it look so easy. Alas, green thumbs I do not have. You know, I never quite got that expression - 'green thumb'. Anyway, I wish it would rain here too. It hasn't for ages which is nice but I am missing it a bit!

You have been busy, well I guess you always are really but at least you get to see some wonderful results.

Thank you all for the lovely comments - you must all have this image of me running around all the time like a headless chicken! It's not really like that, I'm actually quite a laid back person, I do things in my own time, and do enjoy little quiet moments to myself most days (especially with a rather large mug of coffee!).

Like most folk there's just always something to be doing and I find it hard to sit on my bum doing nothing for any longer than 5 minutes! I get that from my mum!

I did enjoy Sunday afternoon though, sat in the pub soaking up the atmosphere and people watching, now I do enjoy that!

Raining again today so back to the sewing. Hope you're all having a good week.

Hi Alison,

We did a bit of tidying on the web site last night, just little things, updating the text on the front page and a link from the pottery listing on the blog to the website.

Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we'll get it all updated, big changes planned, plus a click and buy system put in place, depends on how nice I am to my web man (Gregg!)!

What lovely photos! We're supposed to have some much needed rain today - we could always use the free rainwater, but we have a serious problem with "winter moth" which right now are in the caterpillar stage... they LOVE oak trees and have stripped many of them (it almost looks like winter here with so many bare trees)! They leave behind so much (((poop))) it crunches under foot... thus we NEED the RAIN! (I think I may have scared off a few tourists with this comment!)

Looking forward to seeing your site!

What a wonderful word dreich is - dialect meaning what? Grey, miserable, drizzly? I really like it when people keep old dialect words and phrases alive like this. As for having enough hours in the day - there are never enough in mine. Better than sitting about and saying 'there's nothing to do' though :):)

Thanks for stopping by on my blog - I came to have a big read over here! Your garden is glorious, it's exciting and frustrating in equal measures, doing up a house and garden,I find. Completely absorbing, anyway!

We have "green fingers" rather than a green thumb....!!! That is a lovely peony you have there!! Don't you just love that colour!

Have a great weekend!

So Lisa, what has your weekend involved so far? I have shopped, ate and drank probably far too much. But hey, I don't manage that too often so I don't think my hubby to be will complain too much!!
Hope you are well
