Sweet Valentines..........

Do you remember when you were little, waiting on the postie arriving in the morning, was there going to be any Valentines cards for you? Or even worse, would there be one for your brothers or sisters and not one for you? If Valentines Day fell on a school day they had a "Valentines Post Box" in both our primary and secondary schools, it caused great hilarity, and you could get up to all sorts of mischief sending naughty cards - not that I ever did of course! ;O)

Today I got one lovely card and a bunch of flowers, in return I have baked a chocolate cake and never quite got round to making that card.......................oops! Much creativeness has been going on in the workroom today though, so that's my excuse. At last I feel as if I'm getting somewhere, lots of new products have been flying off the sewing machine, all of which I'm really pleased with, I'll maybe show you some of them nearer the time of the fair..............!!

I'll leave you with a picture (sorry it's not the greatest photo) of our yummy cake - well I hope it will be! I've used some of our lovely blue duck eggs to make it! Gregg is busy making the supper, fillet steaks (from a local farm), dauphinoise potatoes and fresh veg from the organic shack down the road, mmmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Happy Valentines Day to you all, whats is everyone doing tonight I wonder?

L xx

I never really 'do' Valentines day - I always think its lame - I've never seemed to move any of the males in my life to the point they think a card, chocs or flowers are worth it! I always feel its too cheesey and then feel mean spirited for feeling that way.

Maybe if I had been cheerleader popular in the teens - I might have felt different - but instead I'm left bitter and twisted!!!!

How dreary? spending tonight reading blogs while the MD reviews accounting software - romantics we are!!!!!

I'm with Heather on the not really doing Valentines - though I got a card from the girls.

My favourite book, Barbara Trapido's "Brother of the
More Famous Jack" has one of the best gift giving scenes I know - and which I expect the man in my life to emulate. Jacob comes back from work to his wife (who is very home bound, well on in pregnancy, with small children, house guests and teenagers to cope with)and gives her a small gooey artisan cheese - for her alone to eat, she isn't allowed to share it.

It isn't a showy present, it isn't for a specific occasion and it is carefully, lovingly chosen spot on in knowing what she would love before she knew herself.

Mind you - some of that cake might work in the same way. I hope you had a lovely evening.

That cake looks gorgeous and your dinner sounds delicious. Hope you had a lovely evening. We had an evening at the Theatre which was really enjoyable.

Hi Lisa - it must be the Scottish air! James excelled too - and spent time putting together a CD of all the songs that are special to us - 16 of them - from Neil Diamond to the Partridge Family! I think you have to grab every opportunity to celebrate life and love - you never know what's round the corner. So, a belated Happy Valentine's to everyone out there!

I think it sounded lovely!
Will and I had a under £5 crafty swap, he got us a curry and we went to bed early and watched a DVD (The Last Kiss - we missed it at the cinema) It was trashy but fun!

It sounds like you had the perfect evening. My husband (ever the romantic) bought me chocolates, Lush bath goodies (bliss!) and a rose--bush! A gorgeous "English Miss" rose bush so that I can be reminded how much he loves me every time I go out into the garden (I struck gold with him!) :)

I made Nigella's meatballs and pasta, we shared decadent hazlenut icecream and a bath :)
